Welcome to RLHS Art Club!

RLHS Art Club seeks to help students expand upon their interest in visual arts in a relaxed social setting, while focusing their talents towards projects that benefit the entire school such as decoration and design art, as well as, independent assignments that explore individuality and independence of thought.

RLHS Art Club aim is to create an environment in which creativity is fostered. The group often goes out into the community, for arts events such as gallery openings and workshops. Our mission is to not only create art but to also make it more visible in our school and community.

Art Club is open to all students who are interested in art. One does not have to be an artist to be in this club. No prior experience is necessary and all from grades 9-12 are welcome. Possible field trips to art galleries and museums can be arranged if there is interest.

Open Studio time provides students with time to explore and experiment with the wide variety of art department materials. There is always the opportunity for Art Club participants to work on new independent or group projects, but students are also welcome to continue working on in-class projects.

PLEASE NOTE: All images are Johnny Alien's so please do not use without permission. Remember: be a good person : )

I have been neglecting our Art Club blog, but that does not mean we have not been busy. I have sooooo many photos of everyone that I need to figure out a means of displaying them so that our blog doesn't get too crowded. Stay tuned for an announcement that I will post about where you can locate a digital Art Club photo album.

I want to also introduce you to an artist that I admire immensely. In fact I have the good luck to have known him since high school. Post comments and share what you think!
These are just a few of his images. If you like what you see there is more!

Here is a link to his deviant art page: johnnyalien on deviantart

If you like to create this type of art talk to your guidance counselor about our Art and Technology course at Round Lake Senior High School. It is a year, 2 semester, course that you receive a fine art and technology credit for.

I just wanted to add a BIG THANK YOU to Bianca, Gaby, James, Emily, and Zach for volunteering their time and painting such wonderful imagery on the windows for our annual holiday dinner the high school and community host for the sailors that cannot go home and be with their families.
